The Flood Advisory is extended for the following rivers in Colorado

Gore Creek near Minturn affecting Eagle County.

  • Warm temperatures will continue to melt high mountain snowpack and increase river flows. Diurnal forecast peaks are expected to exceed bankfull along Gore Creek, within Vail down to the confluence with the Eagle River, each morning through the weekend.

For the Gore Creek,including Vail,elevated river levels are forecast.

  • WHAT: Flooding caused by snowmelt continues.

  • WHERE: Gore Creek in Vail to the confluence with the Eagle River near Minturn.

  • WHEN: Until tomorrow evening.

  • IMPACTS: At 10.0 feet, Some flooding is likely at the golf course in Vail.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

    • At 12:15 PM MDT Sunday the stage was 9.4 feet.
    • Bankfull stage is 9.8 feet.
    • Forecast: The river will oscillate near flood stage with a maximum value of 10.3 feet just after midnight tonight.
    • Action stage is 9.8 feet.
    • Flood stage is 10.3 feet.

SPECIAL AVALANCHE ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM SUNDAY

  • WHAT: Near-record temperatures and a deeper-than-normal June snowpack will result in large, potentially destructive, wet avalanches through the weekend.
  • WHERE: The mountains of Colorado above about 11,500 feet where there is an existing snowpack.

  • WHEN: Through Sunday evening

  • IMPACTS: Large wet avalanches may release naturally threatening backcountry travelers attempting to climb or ride on high peaks in Colorado
