A tropical cyclone will affect the the locality. Winds of 62 kph up to 88 kph may be expected in at least 24 hours. “BASYANG” SLIGHTLY INTENSIFIES WHILE APPROACHING EASTERN MINDANAO. Location of eye/center : The center of Tropical Storm BASYANG was estimated based on all available data at at 150 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (08.2, 127.7). Strength : Maximum winds of 75 kph near the centerand gustiness of up to 90 kph. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction.   Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 1. Minor to moderate impacts from gale-force winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 2.   The surge of the Northeast Monsoon will also bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds): Today: Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Aurora, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Visayas, and most of Mindanao. HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS A Gale Warning is in effect over the eastern and central seaboards of Visayas and the northern and eastern seaboards of Mindanao. Refer to Gale Warning No. 5 issued at 5:00 PM today. 24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook Up to very rough seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 5.5 m: The seaboard of Surigao Del Sur Up to 5.0 m: The seaboard of Surigao Del Norte, Siargao-Bucas Grande Islands and Dinagat Islands. Up to 4.5 m: The eastern seaboards of Northern Samar, Eastern Samar; the seaboard of northern Davao Oriental, Camiguin, Siguijor, Misamis Oriental, and Misamis Occidental; the northern seaboards of Lanao del Norte; the southern seaboards of Bohol. Sea travel is risky for all types or tonnage of vessels. All mariners must remain in port or, if underway, seek shelter or safe harbor as soon as possible until winds and waves subside. Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 4.0 m: The northern and eastern seaboards of Catanduanes; the eastern seaboards of Albay and Sorsogon; the northern seaboard of Northern Samar; the remaining seaboards of Eastern Samar and Davao Oriental. Refer to “Other Hazards affecting Land Areas” for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone. BASYANG is temporarily moving west northwestward but may still move westward for the next 12 hours before turning west northwestward beginning tomorrow (06 February) morning. On the forecast track, the center of BASYANG will make its initial landfall over Surigao del Sur tonight or tomorrow early morning. After crossing Mindanao, it is likely to emerge over Bohol Sea tomorrow morning, and may pass close or make another landfall over Siquijor and the southern portion of Negros Oriental by tomorrow afternoon to evening. By tomorrow evening or Saturday (07 February) early morning, it will emerge over Sulu Sea, then traverse the northern portion of Palawan between Saturday afternoon and evening. BASYANG may further intensify prior to its initial landfall. It will then slightly weaken as it interacts with the landmass but it will likely remain a tropical storm. Further weakening into a tropical depression is forecast by Saturday and will be downgraded into a low pressure area by Sunday (08 February) afternoon or evening.

It is moving West Northwestward at 15 km/h. Northeast Monsoon affecting Luzon. The 12-hour rainfall forecast is moderate to occasionally heavy rains . WATERCOURSES STILL LIKELY TO BE AFFECTED : + **Siquijor** - All rivers and its tributaries + **Bohol** - Rivers and its tributaries particularly Inabanga, Ipil, Matulid, Loboc and Abatan. + **Cebu** - Rivers and its tributaries particularly Kotkot, Mananga, Guinabasan, Balamban and Sabangdaku. + **Negros Oriental** - Rivers and its tributaries particularly La Libertad, Tanjay, Candugay, Siaton, Cawitan, Sipocong, Bayawan, Pagatban and Lower Tabanan.
