PILANDOK MAINTAINS ITS STRENGTH AS IT MOVES WEST NORTHWESTWARD OVER THE SEA EAST OF EXTREME NORTHERN LUZON. Location of eye/center : The center of Tropical Depression PILANDOK was estimated based on all available data at at 1,100 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (20.7, 132.5). Strength : Maximum winds of 45 kph near the centerand gustiness of up to 55 kph. Forecast movement : Forecast to move West Northwestward at 10 kph Forecast position : Aug 31, 2026 08:00 AM - 1,015 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon Aug 31, 2026 08:00 PM - 910 km East Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon Sep 01, 2026 08:00 AM - 830 km East Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND AREAS Heavy Rainfall Outlook Refer to Weather Advisory No. 33 issued at 11:00 PM today for the heavy rainfall outlook due to the Southwest Monsoon. Severe Winds The Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds): Today (30 August): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental. Tomorrow (31 August): Most of the country Tuesday (01 September): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental. HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS 24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 4.0 m: The western seaboard of Babuyan Islands; the seaboards of Ilocos Norte. Up to 3.5 m: The seaboards of Batanes, Ilocos Sur, and Zambales; the northern seaboard of Babuyan Islands; the western seaboards of Pangasinan and Bataan. Up to 3.0 m: The seaboard of Lubang Islands; the western seaboards of northern La Union, Cavite, Batangas, and northern Occidental Mindoro; the southern seaboard of Bataan; the northern and western seaboards of Kalayaan Islands. Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels. Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 2.5 m: The western seaboard of northern Palawan including Calamian Islands; the eastern seaboard of Davao Oriental; the remaining seaboards of Babuyan Islands and Kalayaan Islands; the remaining western seaboard of Occidental Mindoro. Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of Isabela, northern Aurora, Romblon, Caluya Islands, Cuyo Islands, Antique, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Occidental; the southern seaboards of Camarines Sur, Marinduque, Iloilo, and Guimaras; the western seaboards of Burias Island and Negros Occidental; the remaining seaboards of Davao Oriental; the remaining western seaboard of mainland Palawan. Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions. Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m. TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to “Other Hazards affecting Land Areas” for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone. PILANDOK is forecast to move west northwestward tomorrow (31 August) before turning generally northwestward for the remainder of the forecast period. This tropical cyclone is less likely to make landfall over the country and will remain far from the Philippine landmass. The forecast track is highly uncertain and may change in the succeeding bulletins. PILANDOK is forecast to remain a tropical depression until tomorrow evening and may weaken into a remnant low over the Philippine Sea south of the southern islands of Japan by Tuesday (01 September).
