A flood alert has been issued. This message has been issued because some minor flooding to low lying land, roads and riverside areas is likely from now until tomorrow morning, Thursday 23 May. River levels are currently high due to the ongoing groundwater flooding in this area. Areas most at risk are low lying roads and riverside areas on the Deben from Debenham to Ufford, including Framsden, Earl Soham, Easton, Glevering and Wickham Market, and on the Rivers Lark and Finn around Witnesham, Tuddenham St Martin, Playford and Grundisburgh. We are not currently expecting the situation to escalate, or to issue any further warning messages at this time. The forecast is for showers to get more scattered and less intense as we move into more settled weather. Flood water is dangerous. Don't put yourself or others at risk. We are monitoring the situation and not expecting the situation to escalate. We will update this message on Thursday 23 May, or as the situation changes.

- Check that you know how to turn off your gas, electricity and water mains supplies.
- In rural locations, farmers should consider moving livestock and equipment away from areas likely to flood.
- Avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water - 30 cm of fast-flowing water can move a car and 6 inches can knock an adult off their feet.
- Flood water is dangerous and may be polluted. Wash your hands thoroughly if you’ve been in contact with it.
