What to expect: Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings; Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible; Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures; Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads; Possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.
A flood alert has been issued. Higher than normal tides tomorrow morning may lead to flooding across coastal frontages. Flooding is possible between 9:00 AM and 09:30AM on Sunday 22/09/2024. Areas most at risk are coastal roads and footpaths in Kilnsea and Spurn Point. After this tide, conditions are expected to improve. We are closely monitoring the situation and will re-issue this alert if required. Be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous. - Flood water is dangerous and may be polluted. Wash your hands thoroughly if you’ve been in contact with it.
