DAMAGING WESTERLY WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 100 km/h are likely to continue this afternoon into the evening, with the strongest gusts associated with shower activity.

      Winds are forecast to begin easing below warning thresholds, initially from the west early this evening, and eventually clearing the east by midnight.

      Locations which may be affected include Currie, Whitemark and Bridport.  

      128 KM/H WIND GUST WAS OBSERVED AT MOUNT READ AT 2:42 PM.
      137 KM/H WIND GUST WAS OBSERVED AT HARTZ MOUNTAIN AT 7:01 AM.
      163 KM/H WIND GUST WAS OBSERVED AT MAATSUYKER ISLAND AT 6:14 AM.
      139 KM/H WIND GUST WAS OBSERVED AT SCOTTS PEAK DAM AT 5:51 AM.
      107 km/h wind gust was observed at Low Head at 3:14 pm.
      117 km/h wind gust was observed at Cape Grim at 2:51 pm.
      106 km/h wind gust was observed at Kunanyi (Mount Wellington) at 1:05 pm.
      120 km/h wind gust was observed at Tasman Island at 10:43 am.
      113 km/h wind gust was observed at Low Rocky Point at 6:09 am. 
      Sustained 85 km/h winds were observed at Low Rocky Point at 6:00 am.
